Donna Douglas Star of,The "Beverly Hillbillies" Sues Mattel Over Elly May Barbie Details

Donna Douglas, the actress who starred in the 1960' hit show, The Beverly Hillbillies has filed a law suit against the Mattel toy company regarding her dismay for the new Ellie May Barbie doll. It was released in December, 2010 by the Mattel toy company. The suit was filed in Baton Rouge, La. stating that there was unauthorized use of the likeness and image to promote and sell the doll. Douglas states that she never endorsed the product. CBS TV Distributions owns the rights to the show, and Mattel stated that they had gone through the appropriate channels for licencing the doll. It was reported that Douglas is seeking 75,000 dollars damage. Douglas had starred in 274 episodes of the show which aired from 1961-1971. Douglas, was married twice and had one son. She was born on September 26,1933 and is 77 years old. She still works today making special appearances at churches. After she left the Beverly Hillbillies, she got a broker's license, but never worked in the area. She currently lives in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she grew up.
