John Cabot was an European Explorer from Venice, Italy who was selected to sail from Bristol, England in searh of a passage to the Indies. They wanted to have spices from the Indies. By accident he ended up in North America. It is believed that he sailed around Newfoundland. He found cod fish that was so plentiful that they could drop a bucket off of the side of the boat and lift it full of fish. It was said that "he found enough fish to feed every stomach in Europe."
