Michael’s parents would have rarely found him sleeping amidst some comic books in his childhood. He was born in Germany, grew up in Ireland, and rarely hands on a comic book, let alone X-Men comic books.
And never would he have thought of playing a lead comic hero. But here we are, all set to welcome him on the big screen, in a character that has already achieved widespread acknowledgment and acclaim, after Ian McKellen idolized the character in X-Men series.
It seems like Michael realized the fame of Marvel Comics, only after signing the movie!
Michael will play young Eric Lensherr, who grows up to become the fearful Magneto; the arch rival of Professor Charles Xavier. Charles and Eric weren’t always enemies; they used to be best friends in their youth. Michael would bring the same friendship, taking it to the point from where the two begin to carry a grudge.
It has been proven in the past that one does not need to know completely about a comic superhero or a famous saga if one is ever to play that character; Catherine Hicks knew nothing about the Star Trek saga until she played Dr. Gillian Taylor in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
