American Music Awards 2012

Rihanna and Nicki Minaj are the leading nominees at the 40th annual American Music Awards with four nods each.

 

Christina Aguilera announced the nominations Tuesday in Los Angeles. She also said she plans to perform at the ceremony next month.

Drake, Justin Bieber, Maroon 5, One Direction and Usher earned three bids apiece. Carrie Underwood, Chris Brown, fun., Gotye, J. Cole, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Luke Bryan, and Pitbull are each double nominees.

Drake, Bieber, Maroon 5, Katy Perry and Rihanna are also in the running for artist of the year.

Nominees are selected based on broadcast airplay and online popularity. Fans can vote online for their favorites in all 20 categories.

The American Music Awards will be presented Nov. 18 at Nokia Theater and broadcast live on ABC.

Apple a few days ahead of the event which reportedly will announce the iPad Mini, the rumors continue about the device. There are many things that anticipated from the iPad Mini, from the screen, feature Siri, to 3G connectivity.

But until now there has been no confirmation from Apple about new products, in addition to a media
invitation to an event disseminated on October 23 in San Jose, California. Still, many series of interesting things that have been associated with the iPad Mini, like 13 rumors compiled by Mashable, Monday (22/10/2012).

1. The screen size of 7.85 inches: Measuring 7.85, screen iPad Mini will be 2 inches smaller than the current iPad. But size is considered larger than most current small-screen tablet that is 7 inches.

2. Name tablet is likely to iPad Mini or iPad Water: Source of the calling indutsri small tablet Apple as "iPad Mini" for months. But Apple will likely change, and could have chosen the name "iPad Air".

3. Screen resolution 1024 x 786: Resolution iPad Mini likely to be similar to the first iPad and iPad 2, with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

4. Mini iPad will be thinner: pernagkat is expected to be thinner than the current iPad and the iPhone version.

Frame around the screen, rumored to be thicker at the top and bottom. According to Apple blogger John grubber from Daring Fireball, "iPad Mini" will have space for the home button and the camera, and has a thin design on the side.

5. A5 Processor: The iPad Mini is expected to be similar to the iPad 2. Berbedar rumors say that the A5 processor, the iPad Mini will have 512 MB of RAM.

6. Lightning Connector: Mini iPad will reportedly have a dock connector as the iPhone 5 Lightning, which is 80 percent smaller than the 30-pin connector.

7. Possible 3G connection: The debate whether the iPad Mini will have 3G or not happen for a couple of week. However, the site claims to have a section ukrainianiphone.com iPad Mini and mentions 3G antenna area on the device.

My Thoughts: After her chart-topping first single from the upcoming album, Red, Taylor Swift has again enchanted us with the second track from said album in this song that seems to retreat to her country roots. When I first listened to it, I was unimpressed by, what seemed, a copy-cat plot. On the surface, it comes across no different than Swift’s usual writing and in many platforms it is. Multiple plays since has changed my mind – this song is so much better than ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ For the first time in a long time, a Swift song tells a compelling story of new love that paints the hero as a gentleman (the sort of guy the fairer sex often thinks makes them look weak! What-ever!). In novels, songwriting or film, no matter the media, it is hard to find a guy who fits that description – when we do, it’s usually after a “search,” so I do applaud Taylor for giving us a guy who stands when she enters the room or pulls out his date’s chair as Taylor replies, and you don't know how nice that is.

My Thoughts: although “Good Girl” has a ring of familiarity to it, it does not diminish how awesome this track is – seriously. Each time I listen to it, I like it more. (I’ve probably listened to it half-a-dozen times since its release Thursday!) As early reviews have claimed, Carrie nails this song – yet again. In much the tradition of her prior tracks, I don’t feel like we are being asked to listen to a song that has been sung time and again only with different titles and words (example being “Cowboy Casanova”) but rather another destined-to-become-number-one-single from an artist who is multi-talented.

The message of the song itself has a good-bad vibe going for it. On the one hand, it is encouraging girls to stay away from guys that are “bad news” but on the other hand, in getting there, some of the lines aren’t always above criticism.

From what little I know of the SyFy channel, it is known for its creative – or wacky! – productions. Inspired by one of their more recent miniseries, Alice I decided this was worth a look. Once again, a fantasy lovers dream is nurtured in this crazy six-hour series (or four-and-a-half hours courtesy of the DVD).

Adventure is something that Dorothy Gail (Zooey Deschnel) – or DG, as she is commonly known, is ready to allow for in her life. In fact, she craves something more than the dusty town she has known since childhood. Her life isn’t dreadful but it is far from fulfilling her curious personality. Living with her beloved parents’ on their little farm, her days consist of waitressing and getting caught for speeding on her motorbike. Tired of the fines, she dreams of taking off to fulfill her grand notions. Her mother (Gwynyth Walsh) is worried for DG but it is her father (Kevin McNulty) who seems to understand her best. The two are most suited. It is he who shares some of life’s most valuable lessons no matter how tiring they can be, and whom DG confides most in about the nightmares; one of bears, apples and a woman who is warning DG of a storm. During an unexplained tornado, their home is invaded by cloaked men with guns; the three barely escape with their lives and DG is separated from her parents. Waking up in a forest puzzles DG as do the small dwarf men who suddenly surround her accusing her of being a spy for the “witch.” Captured by these funny little men, DG is met with another surprise when she befriends fellow prisoner Glitch (Alan Cumming), a funny man with half a brain, who still keeps his wits about him. Escaping when the longcoats come searching, DG and Glitch set out for the central road to make it to The Outer Zone, where answers may exist… but DG soon realizes that the witch Azkadellia (Kathleen Robertson) is actively searching for her capture…
